Brother Knights,
As a reminder, the OneLife LA Walk for Life is this Saturday, January 24 and as always, we can use your help! This year, the entire program will take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels, located at 555 W. Temple St in Los Angeles. Unlike in previous years, the event will start with the program at 2:00 pm in the plaza of the Cathedral with speakers and inspirational talks. This will be followed by the walk at 3:00 pm, which will take place in the area immediately surrounding the Cathedral. Following the walk, the day will conclude with the Requiem Mass for the Unborn at 5:00 pm. This year, our State Deputy Ken Rose will be a featured speaker during the program and the Knights of Columbus will be honored for the good works we do supporting life from conception to natural death. So it is a particularly important year for the Knights to show up in force, to show our support.
This year, we need your assistance with ensuring the safety of those participating in the walk. We will have volunteers stationed throughout the walk as well as in the plaza of the Cathedral to help assist with directing those participating in the walk. Although the program does not start until 2:00, we are asking that our volunteers arrive between 11:00 and 11:30, to make sure we have time to coordinate before the event begins and to give us the best chance to be able to park in the Cathedral parking lot. As the walk will take place on the streets surrounding the Cathedral, the DOT will begin closing down Temple St as early as 1:00 and the parking lot will not be accessible after this time. We anticipate a high demand for parking and encourage you to arrive early.
As always, we ask that you come to the event in your Knights gear. We encourage you to wear your OneLife LA shirts from prior years or other Knights shirts, such as a council shirt, as it is unclear if we will have any T-shirts available this year. In addition, it is always a good idea to wear a hat and sunscreen, to protect yourself from the sun.
If you know you will be attending, we'd love to hear from you prior to the event. You can reply to me at this email address (***@***.***) or text me on my cell at ***-***-****. On the day of the event, registration will take place at the Knights sign in table in the plaza of the Cathedral, starting at 11:00 am.
I am attaching the flyer for the event as well as the map of the walk, for your reference.
Lastly, I want to welcome you to join LA Catholics in praying for the dignity of all human life on the evening preceding the walk. The Holy Hour will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday, January 23rd, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Let's spend this time together in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
Please let me know if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing you all on Friday and Saturday.
Vivat Jesus,
Michael Stauffer
OneLife LA Chairman
